MEC may suit the student if…
- They are comfortable with Maths and practise it willingly
- They are interested in finance, economics, data or analytics
- They want quantitative degree options to stay open
MEC and CEC both include Economics and Commerce. The difference is one subject: MEC has Mathematics, CEC has Civics. That single subject affects how the student studies for two years and which courses are easiest to enter afterwards.
If the student is comfortable with Mathematics, MEC keeps a few more doors open. If Maths is a real struggle, CEC may be the healthier choice.

Comfort with Mathematics is important, but interests and working style matter just as much.

Relative strengths in reasoning, numbers, language and problem solving, not only last year’s marks.
How the student likes to study and work, and what they want from a future career.
The assessment changes with the student’s stage. A Class 9 or 10 student, a Class 12 student and a college student each receive a questionnaire and report built for their stage. The counsellor then discusses the report with the student and parents together. See psychometric test in Hyderabad.

His work across GE Capital, Synchrony and Cognizant gives a practical view of what different careers actually demand day to day. That perspective sits alongside the assessment results, so recommendations stay grounded in real courses, real jobs and the student’s own circumstances.
Both can lead to CA. MEC’s Mathematics helps in some parts of the course, while CEC suits students who are less comfortable with Maths. The student’s comfort with numbers should guide the choice.
CEC has no Mathematics, so students who struggle with Maths often find it easier. It still needs steady reading and writing. “Easier” depends on the student.
Yes. BBA and law are commonly open to students from different streams, including CEC. Always check the eligibility of the specific college or entrance exam.
Some courses ask for Mathematics in Intermediate. A counsellor can check which routes remain open and whether any bridging option exists.
